A Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park
Two young people. Two different stories. Both are in a troubled country, is determined to find the future that they were hoping for. Nya is the first main character and she goes to the pond to fetch some water for her family while the family does other tasks. Salva is the second main character and he walks away from his war-torn village. He is a “lost boy” refugee who is also searching for his lost family. Salva and Nya face many difficult challenges but survive by their bravery and hope.
Family is important. They are people who you can count on and who will be with you through everything. ” Eh Nephew! He said in a cheerful voice. We are together now, so I will look after you.” The reason why this piece of evidence is related to the topic sentence is citizens would feel protected by family. ” He worked so hard so she would not send him away.” The reason why this piece of evidence is related to the topic sentence is everybody needs someone so they can take care of each other. If no one had anyone the public would be alone and family are your folks and you can always count on them.
Love is what makes life worth living. Happiness is usually the result of having a meaningful life, not what makes life worth living in itself. Love includes friendships and family relationships as well as romantic ones. ” Salva had to laugh. They were both laughing as they started walking again, arm in arm, their strides marching perfectly.” The reason why this piece of evidence is related to the topic sentence is friendship is important. Also there was once a quote saying ” A friend will know just what to do, or just the thing to say, know too, they do; that which you are, but like you anyway.” This quote relates to the theme and the quote of friendship from the book. ” Her silence frightened Nya. Only two days earlier Akker had complained noisily and a length about the pains in her stomach. Nya had been annoyed by all the whining. Now she felt guilty, for she could see that her sister no longer had enough strength to complain.” The reason why this piece of evidence is related to the topic sentence because it shows that the public are willing to make a dangerous journey to protect their children or someone that they adore.
