Development is generally divided into 3 broad categories;
Physical; Changes in the body –how they grow and move –how they perceive their environment.
-For example may be affected if the child or young person uses a wheelchair, a walker maybe they can only stand for short periods of time or loss of limbs.

Congitive; mental processes- long term memory- problem solving- what children use to acquire and use their knowledge.
– for example Dyslexia is a condition that affects reading and writing and dyscalculia affect learning in numeracy.

Emotional and social; addresses how children handle relationships with others-and understanding their own feelings.
-for example Autism – Asperger’s syndrome is a condition where it can stop them communicated in a safe way with there peers and teachers and not understanding the task. As it may be too much for them.
