Everytime we release greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane, the global warming gets worse. This is the reason behind the temperatures on earth have noticeably increased by 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit since the early 20th century. “All but one of the 16 hottest out of 17 warmest years in NASA’s 134 year record have occurred since 2000”, 2016 being the warmest year. A study from 2016 found that without the emissions from burning coal and oil, there is very a very small likelihood that 13 out of the 15 warmest years on record would have not happened. (Climate Change Pro Con.org). The cause of global warming has to do mostly with humans, and the way we treat the earth which is not very good.Meteorologists and oceanographers compare the climate patterns that they observe with patterns that they developed by using sophisticated models of Earth’s atmosphere and ocean. By matching the observed and modeled patterns, scientists can positively identify the “human fingerprints” associated with the changes, and they can also associate the proportion of those changes in human activities.“Emissions from cars and power plants and an increase in the amount of radiation the sun emits are examples of “forcings” that drive temperature rise, the first one by trapping heat, and the second one by increasing energy, which translated into heat” (How Do We Know that humans are the cause of global warming). Volcanic eruptions and some other types of man made pollution, which both insert sunlight reflecting aerosols into the atmosphere, they also lower the temperature and are examples of forcings that drive the decreases in temperature. “The global warming of the past 50 years is due primarily to human-induced increases in heat-trapping gases. Human “fingerprints” also have been identified in many other aspects of the climate system, including changes in ocean heat content, precipitation, atmospheric moisture, and Arctic sea ice.” (Climate Change: Vital sines of the planet).so humans need to burn a lot less fossil fuels and use different sources of energy so that way it causes less of the greenhouse effect. The earth’s ocean temperatures are getting warmer and warmer, which means that the tropical storms can pick up more and more energy. Global warming could turn at any time, into a category 3 storm or even into a more dangerous category 4 storm. In fact, scientists have found out that the frequency of the North Atlantic hurricanes have increased since the early 1980s, as well as the number of storms that have reached to categorie 4 and 5. This is another reason why humans are at fault when it comes to global warming. (Global warming 101).In conclusion, the main cause for global warming is humans and the way that we treat the earth, and this habet can be changed. If people release less greenhouse gases by not burning fossil fuels, and many other things it will help slow down the effects of global warming.
